Chicano art is a form of art which was created in the 1960s. It was the time when the Chicano Movement of the 1960s, also known as the Chicano Civil Rights Movement was taking place. The goal of the Chicano Movement was to achieve Mexican American Empowerment. The way Chicano art was brought up was that during the Chicano Movement, the art was created and energized cultural pride. The art itself was not just a type of art for the people that time. It was a symbol of their cultural pride. Some Chicano artists have come up with the art which included both the US and Mexico's influences. They were pretty much similar but one way to differ from them is that the FULL Mexican one has the use of bright colors. Below there are examples. The right one is American & Mexican and the left one is FULL Mexican.
